Acousticaquatica
Motion tracking of fish swimming triggers sound to play back to the fish. The goal: over time, to see if the fish will learn to swim to trigger the sounds they like, and avoid the ones they don't like. Aquarium is mapped with a virtual video grid so that on one side there are sounds of nature that the fish may hear in their natural environment (water sounds, river dolphins, birds and other fish), in the middle there is silence, and on the far side there are sounds of civilization and humanity (fishing nets, jackhammers, music, people talking, walking). Presented in Montréal at Galerie Les Territoires as part of Exposition De La Nature Jan 17-Feb 23, 2013
