///Friction is a performative sound installation that uses bicycles to create and manipulate sounds, transforming three bicycles into musical instruments.  Audio is complimented by video, tempos synchronized, so as the three riders pedal, the melodies, harmonies, and rhythms -- all derived from the bicycle -- evolve to form a soundscape that evolves into a song. Presented at the SAT in 2011, as well as at a MUTEK event in 2010, with ///Friction, the cyclist-musicians act as both viewers and creators, in this interactive performative participatory sound installation to promote the bicycle as a sustainable mode of transportation and inspiration.
